Who Ya Gonna Call?

II Chronicles 20:1-3 NKJV

It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar” (which is En Gedi). And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord , and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

What is the first thing you do when faced with overwhelming difficulty? How do you react when told of a situation that is out of your control? One you can’t fix?

Verse 3 says Jehoshaphat feared, but he didn’t run. He sought the Lord. Could it be that fear knocked on his door but he didn’t answer? Why? Jehoshaphat knew who God was and the power that He holds.

Could it be we give fear access and control by going to everyone for advice except God? Is He always the last on your list of people to talk to? Or maybe He’s not there at all.

We usually seek help or assistance from individuals whom we know possess certain abilities. Need to move? Call a moving company. Got a toothache? Call the dentist?

Jehoshaphat and the cities of Judah were outnumbered by a massive army. And so, they asked for help. They sought the Lord. They knew God would protect and keep them.

Maybe it’s not an army that has risen against you? It could be anything. But consider this: You can ask God for help. Knowing He’ll keep you. Knowing He’ll guide you. Knowing He’ll protect you. Knowing He loves you.

Seek Him First.
…before you call mom.
…before you call dad.
…before you call your best friend.
…before you call the doctor.

Seek Him First.
Knowing. Believing. Trusting.
He can help.
He wants to help.
Simply because you’re His daughter.
Because you’re His son.
Because you are loved and He’s a good father.
